Yummy food that you can make from common garden produce! Each is a homemade recipe by one of the garden members. Try them yourself!

Garden Recipes

Ingredients

  • beets (as many as you want)

  • ramen noodles

  • water

  • salt/soy sauce

Bloody Beet Noodles
  1. Take your beets and peel them. Then slice them into 3 mm thick slices. NOTE: They stain your hands and cutting board red!

  2. Put the slices of beets into a pot of boiling water and boil for about 5 minutes.

  3. Strain the beets, then prepare some ramen noodles (boil noodles for about 10 minutes).

  4. Add the beets to the noodles as well as a generous dash of salt and/or soy sauce.

Superb Salad

This is a super-easy dish to make, and it requires no cooking! Ready?

 

1. Toss the fresh spinach, tomatoes, hearts of palms, lettuce and blackberries.

2. If necessary, top it off with salad dressing and TA-DA!

Ingredients

  • fresh garden spinach

  • fresh tomatoes

  • hearts of palms

  • fresh lettuce

  • ripe blackberries

  • (salad dressing)

Fresh Stir-Fry
  1. Mix chopped onions with fresh peppers, green beans, and cucumbers into a stir-fry

  2. Add some grated cheese

  3. Cook rice with spinach

  4. Top with salmon and sprinkle pepper

Basil Pesto Recipe
  1. Boil that pasta and salt it like the sea (half a tablespoon).

  2. Blend the rest of the ingredients in a blender.

  3. Drain pasta, keeping some water.

  4. Add drained pasta and the reserved water into new pot.

  5. Add some peas or chopped tomato, any fruit/vegetable that doesn't require cooking.

  6. Turn the heat off and stir in the pesto.

  • 8 oz of any pasta/spaghetti

  • 1 cup basil

  • 1/3 cup pine nuts (or almonds)

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

  • 1 tblsp lemon juice 

  • optional: large tomato

  • optional: half cup of peas
